Commercial Landscape Design
Site-specific design for offices, retail, campuses and communities: planting plans, circulation, lighting, irrigation and a phased path to build.
Good commercial landscape design is part marketing, part engineering and part long-term budgeting. The planting has to support the brand and make buildings easier to find, but it also has to survive parking lot heat, road salt, snow piles and mowers, and it has to be maintainable by a crew on a reasonable schedule. In Nashville, designs also have to respect clay soils, stormwater rules and the way sites grow over time, since a shrub that is perfect on opening day can be a pruning problem in five years. A design that ignores those realities costs money every season.
We begin by listening to the owner or manager about goals, budget and constraints, then walk the site to study sun, drainage, traffic, utilities and sightlines. The design phase produces a planting plan, hardscape and lighting notes, irrigation guidance and a phasing recommendation, with plant lists chosen for their mature size, maintenance needs and local performance. We can work with the property’s engineer or architect, present to a board or ownership group and then build the design ourselves, so the crew that installs it understands the thinking behind it.
Goals before plants
We start with what the property needs to say and do, then choose plants and features to match.
Mature size in mind
Plants are placed for what they will become, which keeps pruning and replacement low.
Designed to be maintained
Bed shapes, edges and plant choices make routine care faster and cleaner.
Phased delivery
Large plans are split into stages so work can follow the budget.
